The Register is suggesting we start paying attention to the “random collections of (often highly esoteric) words” that “spam tsunamists are in the habit of finishing their missives with”, as if this constituted a form of William Burroughs-like cut-up poetry. Here’s one I got this morning from spam poet Darla , entitled ‘osmotic’:

deerskin,was greeted with,splenetic,again he pictured,downstream,technique of your,abeyance,up and gave,biology,handbags of antelope,depletion,of the four,linotype,family starts lying,kibbutzim,all the while.

I like ‘handbags of antelope’ but give me prose any day. Here’s an excerpt from ‘Re: work’ by Roderick Blackwell :

Very softly my ghost bent over me, his right hand crept out of the burnoose, and I saw the flash of a knife blade.

You can definitely see the influence of Burroughs here too, although in his case I guess it would have been something other than a knife appearing in the ghost’s right hand.
